Please join our audience for another great musical performance on WLRN's South Florida Arts Beat Friday, January 18th, 2013, 1:00pm Eastern U.S.

Featuring The Stephen Scott Quartet

With a career that spans decades, Mr. Scott has performed and/or recorded with Jazz legends Wynton Marsalis, Sonny Rollins, Freddie Hubbard, Bennie Golson, Dexter Gordon, Pieces of a Dream, Dr. John and Ron Carter among other musical giants. You might have seen him on The Tonight Show or BET On Jazz or, perhaps, in the movie Café Society.

Schooled in classical music with private lessons at Julliard, he later attended the High School of Music and Arts in Manhattan where he discovered Jazz. At the age of 18 in 1987, he joined the “road-school” of Betty Carter. His numerous recordings have defined his career as a pianist, composer and bandleader and certainly one of the leading lights of his generation and the mainstream Jazz renaissance.

He’ll be joined by bassist Jaime Ousley, Nathan Skinner on vibes and Erroll Cooper on drums.

Please tune in worldwide on our Internet site at http://www.wlrn.org/ at 1:00pm, EST on 1/18/13, for the broadcast.

South Florida Arts Beat is generously co-sponsored by Pollo Tropical and Friends of WLRN.
