Vocalist Sony Holland will perform songs from her CD Sanssouci at First & Hope in downtown Los Angeles. Ms. Holland has toured extensively in Asia and headlined at top venues in the U.S. including the Blue Note, the Catalina, Yoshi's, the Dakota, the Rrazz Room, etc...This is her fourth release. The brand new disc has been featured in CD Baby's influential Music Discovery Blog.

At First & Hope she will be accompanied by her husband Jerry Holland on guitar and Kenny Dennis on percussion. During his career as a drummer Mr. Dennis has performed and recorded with some of the jazz worlds most iconic figures, including Miles Davis, Thelonius Monk, Charles Mingus, Lena Horne and many more.

Kenny's friendship and musical pairing with the Holland's began when he discovered them gigging around Los Angeles. Mr. Dennis states, “I was enchanted by their fabulous duo and began bringing my snare drum and joining in." Now devoted to teaching Mr. Dennis states, “It was Miles that hooked me up to join Lena Horne's band in California. It is an important part of the jazz tradition to help out other musicians who deserve to be heard."

NOTES FROM SONY HOLLAND

I'm pleased to present my new CD, Sanssouci. It is a very personal project for me with soft and dark overtones. Though it was put together on an artists' budget I'm proud of the result and I hope you will find it a “good listen." Of course there are things about Sanssouci that could have been improved upon had there been additional resources, but whatever it lacks in production value we tried to make up for with spirited artistry.
