Miami Light Project with promotional consideration from South Florida JAZZ, is proud to present the legendary saxophonist Sonny Rollins and his quintet in only his second South Florida appearance since the 1995 Hollywood Jazz Festival; in concert on Tuesday, March 14, 2006, 8:00 pm at Gusman Center for the Arts in downtown Miami.

Colossus ... Legend ... Royalty ... Virtuoso ... Words alone can't express the impact Grammy Lifetime Achievement-awardee Sonny Rollins has had on music. At 75, he's taken the tenor saxophone to places it has never gone and is the last of his generation worthy of a place in the pantheon of jazz history along with Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, and John Coltrane. On record his music is magnificent and transporting; in concert it becomes an exquisite and intoxicating journey into a sound full of texture, melodic desire and emotion that will leave you forever changed. Sonny Rollins arguably is the greatest improviser of this music.
