Award winning professional actress/singer Eileen Howard will return from New York for a CD release party in the Green Room at the Garden Theater. The CD, entitled “Blues in the Green Room” is a live recording of her previously sold-out blues show this past April in the same venue. As part of Short North Stage’s Cabernet Cabaret Series, she will perform on February 1st and 2nd, with shows at 8:00 pm each evening, in two sets.

In addition to her popular blues shows in February and April of 2012, Howard previously appeared with Short North Stage as Hattie in the Company's inaugural production of Follies in 2011 and in Short North Stage's Songs of the Season shows in December, 2011. She relocated to New York City last fall, where she is currently appearing in “702 Punchlines and Pregnant” at The Broadway Comedy Club, and will be seen in Frankenstein with The Hudson Guild in March. She continues to perform jazz and blues in New York and in Central Ohio.

“We were delighted with Eileen’s cabaret shows last season”, said Peter Yockel, Board President. “Audiences loved her show and we are happy that she is releasing her new live CD here where it was recorded. The Green Room at The Garden is a great space for intimate cabaret acts, so we are also happy that she included that in the title of the CD. ”

“I’m thrilled to be returning to Columbus and to Short North Stage for my CD release.” said Howard. “These blues shows gave me an opportunity to expand my repertoire as well as include funny stories and autobiographical information. It seemed like audiences had a great time and, hopefully, the CD captures that excitement. It is always wonderful to perform with such talented musicians, so I’m also looking forward to an opportunity to reconnect with them. ”

Howard will again feature her talented blues band, with Ed Moed on keys, Chris Ciampa on bass, David Bennett on Guitar and The Governor on drums, (Shane Willis on drums Saturday night) with special guest Randy Mather on saxophone.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.shortnorthstage.org and are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. Performances will be at The Garden Theater Green Room, 1187 North Nigh Street, Columbus OH 43201, or call 614-725-4042.

Eileen Howard is a recording artist and composer, who previously released two critically acclaimed jazz CD’s, and an eclectic CD of spiritual tunes of her own composition. Fritz the Night Owl, former Deejay for WJZA and jazz reviewer for The Short North Gazette dubbed her “one of the most creative and swingin’ singers ever to vocalize on the local jazz scene.” Scott Yanow, in Los Angeles Jazz Scene called her “a singer well worth discovering”.

Howard has received awards and critical acclaim as an actress and singer, with nods from The Central Ohio Theatre Round Table, The Columbus Dispatch, Columbus Alive Magazine, and The Other Paper. She now performs in New York City as well as gigs in Central Ohio (based in Clintonville).
