The nine-day Xerox Rochester International Festival (XRIJF) 16th Edition returns to Rochester starting June 23 through July 1 presenting more than 1500 artists from around the world in 320+ shows at 19 indoor and outdoor venues.
Free shows on 5 outdoor stages
One of the nation's largest jazz festivals, XRIJF draws more than 200,000 people from around the world and is presented in three series- the Club Pass Series with 230+ shows, the headliner series of six shows and 95 free shows and events all held in Rochester's East End Cultural and Entertainment District.
Ticketed headliner shows will feature King Crimson, Joss Stone, Sheryl Crow (SOLD OUT), Mavis Staples, “To Ray With Love" Maceo Parker & The Ray Charles Orchestra featuring The Raelettes, and Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox.

Artists from 18 Countries Will Be Performing This Year— Plus Made in the UK and Nordic Jazz Now Series Return
Music is the universal language at XRIJF, which is one of the world's leading international music festivals. Artists will travel to Rochester this year from 18 countries including Canada, Scotland, England, Sweden, Faroe Islands, Iceland, Finland, Denmark, Peru, Spain, Jamaica, Israel, Russia, South Korea, Austria, Japan, France, and the USA.
Made in the UK series started at XRIJF in 2008, to showcase artists from the UK. Now in its 10th year, it remains the largest presentation of UK jazz outside the U.S. and has expanded to other major festivals in Canada and major U.S. cities. In memory of the series curator, John Ellson, who passed away in October 2016, the festival will present a special tribute concert at Christ Church on July 1 with Tessa Souter.
Nordic Jazz Now series, now in its 10th year at the festival, will present artists from Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Faroe Islands and Iceland.
Five Free Jazz Workshops Offered for Young Music Students
Sponsored by Wegmans and held at the Eastman School of Music, the series of five structured jazz workshops is June 26-30 and led by five extraordinary musicians performing at XRIJF: Jae Sinnett, drums; Tommy Smith, sax; Tim Hagans, trumpet; Manuel Valera, piano; and Jon Ballantyne, piano. Free, no pre-registration required.
Two Official Jam Sessions This Year

New!! Soul'd Out Weekend Jams June 23, 24 and Jun 30 in Legends Bar and Grill at Radisson Rochester Riverside, led by the Karl Stabnau Quartet. From blues to soul to funk and RnB to crossover genres and beyond it will be anything but the “traditional jazz" experience.
20 School Jazz Bands to Perform
We are pleased to welcome the next generation of jazz musicians from elementary, high school, colleges and programs from the Eastman School of Music, who will perform daily at the festival starting at 3 p.m. in free shows on the City of Rochester Jazz Street Stage presented by The Community Foundation. Great concerts for the whole family.

The 3-Day Club Pass: offers patrons unlimited access to shows on any three days of their choice during the festival. Not transferable. $154 plus $6 service charges.

Schedule Changes
Veronica Swift and Trio will be replacing the Biel Ballester Trio, which is unable to play due to illness. You can see them on June 23 at the Little Theatre and June 24 at the Wilder Room. At just 23 years of age Veronica has been recognized as one of the top young singers in jazz for her distinctive voice, sterling musicianship, and deep repertoire.
Jacob Dupre will replace Erik Stabnau on Friday June 30 at the Noon Series at the Central Library. Dupre is a fifth generation musician and composer from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Accomplished far beyond his age, he plays piano, trumpet, bass, drums, and is a vocalist and composer.
