According to information available to me, Jazz great Walter Perkins is back in the hospital today. The jazz legend suffered a stroke, and is suffering from complications from radiation treatments for lung cancer. Just last week Walter Perkins was given a plaque for 35 years service to the Creative Jazz Organization, at Carmichael's in Jamaica, Queens, New York. Walter Perkins is featured on many old jazz recordings in the 50's and played with many jazz greats. He is presently at what was called La Guardia Hospital on Queens Boulevard,in Forest Hills, New York. The prognosis is guarded at this time and is best described as “grim".
