New York City-based jazz artists Sweet Megg (Meaghan Farrell) and Ricky Alexander prove you can always re-spark a romance, even for music. The two solo artists, who have been performing together for the past few years, aim to make early jazz classics popular again with their debut collaboration album, I’m in Love Again. The album is set to be released on Turtle Bay Records on June 11th, 2021.

The two artists bring together a delightful collection of playful and romantic jazz standards from the 1920s, 30s and 40s. The 11 tracks feature Sweet Megg’s frisky mezzo vocals along with Ricky Alexander’s energetic saxophone and clarinet, backed by an adept group of musicians.

The pair recently released their new single, “Foolin Myself,” the 1937 jazz classic by Peter Tinturin and Jack Lawrence that was originally recorded that same year by the legendary Billie Holiday. Sweet Megg, who is greatly inspired by Holiday, hosts an annual showcase in NYC called “Billie Night” on the jazz legend’s birthday (April 7th). Thus including Holiday’s classic “Foolin’ Myself” on their new album was a natural choice.

The rest of the duo's I’m in Love Again album includes 1920s classics, such as “Last Night on the Back Porch” by Carl Schraubstader and Lew Brown; “I’m in Love Again” by Cole Porter; “Squeeze Me" by Fats Waller as well as Duke Ellington's 1941 standard, “I Got It Bad (and That Ain't Good).”

Sweet Megg and Ricky Alexander first started performing together seven years ago after meeting at a popular jazz club in the East Village of Manhattan. Their live performances caught the attention of Scott Asen, owner of Turtle Bay Records, who encouraged the two to record an album together. Thus their new album was born.

Both artists have been building their individual careers over the past few years, each leading and touring with their own jazz bands in the US and abroad. Sweet Megg has been seen lighting up stages with her band The Wayfarers around the eastern United States as well as in France and Russia. Ricky has been extremely busy as a sideman and as well as leading his band, The Early Bird Jazz Band. He regularly plays with and has recorded with some of the most renowned jazz artists in NYC, including Grammy Award- winning Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks, The Louis Armstrong Eternity Band, Glenn Crytzer Orchestra and the legendary ragtime pianist Terry Waldo, among others.

Ricky and Sweet Megg bring a refreshing twist to a diverse mix of early jazz classics in their new album, I'm In Love Again, that drops on June 11th. As a preview, check out the duo's new single from the album, “Foolin Myself," out now everywhere.
