JEAN-BAPTISTE “Little Fats" FRANC - A 22-year-old Stride Pianist whose influences are Fats Waller, James P. Johnson and Donald “The Lamb" Lambert, an almost unknown but well recognized genius, who Duke Ellington and Count Basie would go especially to hear.
It was during a visit to Paris in 2000 that Fats' guitarist Al Casey named the then 16 year-old “Little Fats" when he heard him play “Ain't Misbehavin'."
Jean-Baptiste first played at Lincoln Center in 2001, recently at Terry Waldo's Stride Jam at Fat Cat's to a delighted audience of peers and in October at Shutters to his recent fans.
