In celebration of MoMA's upcoming Jacob Lawrence “The Migration Series", Terrance McKnight hosts the Bob Stewart Double Quartet.

Over the last 40 years Bob Stewart has established himself as both an innovative tuba player and equally creative jazz educator. In addition to embracing the tuba's historical position as the original bass instrument in jazz, Mr. Stewart's focus on reintroducing the Tuba into a contemporary band setting has encouraged many tuba players and bandleaders to explore this approach.

Saturday, March 7

Charismatic and dynamic saxophonist/bandleader Lakecia Benjamin has played with Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, The Roots and Macy Gray. Her unconventional soul/funk album, RETOX, on Motéma Music, has gained national attention.

Saturday, March 14
The Music of Ray Barretto & Celia Cruz
7:30PM & 9:30PM, $15

Move to the rhythms of Latin legends with the Music of Ray Barretto and Celia Cruz. These two icons of their genre left a huge legacy from which to explore. Expect excitement! Featuring: Miguel Valdez (conga), Coto Pinchiero (piano), Steve Nelson (vibraphone), Ray Martinez (bass), Renato Thoms (bongos), Yudelquis La Mulata Fabulosa (vocals) and Olga Merediz (vocals).
