Drummer/Percussionist Adriano Santos Releases New CD Titled "In Session" for Kingjazzad Music.

Musical interpretation can take many paths, and on the latest release from drummer/composer Adriano Santos titled “In Session" the paths are a many. Santos and his ensemble which is made up of David Binney on alto and soprano saxophone, Helio Alves on piano, David Ambrosio on acoustic bass, &Dende on percussion have come together to record an assortment of compositions from the finest Brazilian composers such as: Milton Nascimento, Raul Mascarenhas, Airto Moreira, Victor Assis Brasil, Toninho Horta, J.T. Meirelles and Moacir Santos. The vibrant energy of this session jumps into your lap from note one. Santos who has been a sideman for many top artists in the Brazilian music field has finally come to the position of leader. He does not let down with an incredible raw energy of percussive performance throughout the recording. If you love the infectious rhythmic groove of Brazilian music then take in one of the top drummers of the genre. Joined by an all-star ensemble Adriano Santos is on his way to being one of the most exciting Brazilian drummers of our time.



About Adriano Santos



Adriano Santos is at the epicenter of New York's contemporary Brazilian drummers. Growing up in So Paulo and studying at the acclaimed Zimbo Trio Music School since age twelve, he moved to Boston in 1988 and earned a degree in film scoring at Berklee College of Music. In 1995 he relocated to New York City to pursue a master's degree at City College and has never looked back. As a professional he has performed with top international artists such as Astrud Gilberto, Gal Costa, Leny Andrade, Maucha Adnet,Romero Lubambo, Helio Alves, Nelson Faria, Leo Gandelman, Paulo Moura, Eumir Deodato, Claudio Roditi, Jovino Santos Neto, John Pizzarelli, Slide Hampton, Harry Allen, David Binney, Cliff Korman, Santi Debriano, Dave Pietro, Vana Gierig, Eileen Ivers, Paul Winter and the Boston Pops, to name a few. He is currently performing with the Vinicius Cantuaria Group, Hendrik Meurkens Samba Jazz Quintet and the Afro-Brazilian band Hanhanhaes.

Adriano's playing style is typified by a natural clarity, swing and deep-seated groove in the tradition of Airto Moreira and Milton Banana. Mr. Santos has written articles in noted drum magazines and recently released Afro-Caribbean & Brazilian Rhythms for Drumset, a book for Drummers Collective school NYC where he is longstanding faculty. Adriano is an artist endorser for Vic Firth sticks, Odery drums and Istanbul Agop cymbals.
