The Bob Gluck Trio will celebrate the release of its second CD, Returning (FMR) at a December 22 performance in New York City. The Thursday evening show will take place at the Gershwin Hotel, 7 East 27th Street (between Fifth and Madison), at 8:00 pm. Returning has received rave reviews since its release in Spring 2011. John Book (Book's Music) calls iit a fantastic listen... something exceptional." Bill Millkowski (Jazz Times) writes that the CD is a perfect balance between formal composition and free jazz... virtuosic runs that may recall such avant-garde icons as Cecil Taylor, Paul Bley and Don Pullen... from plaintive introspection to volatile extrapolation..."
The Bob Gluck Trio consists of pianist Bob Gluck, bassist Michael Bisio and drummer Dean Sharp. The Trio's first CD, Sideways was released in 2008, also on FMR. Chuck Vecoli (Jazz Review) observes: Gluck's virtuoso piano work, the tight supportive punctuation of Michael Bisio's bass work and the incredible dynamics of Dean Sharp on drums... Gluck's compositions are expressed with an intensity and sensitivity that is spellbinding. I cannot fully convey the attraction deeply seeded in these pieces that becomes stronger as the composition progresses... They execute the trio format impeccably."
