The new Alan Lewine Xtet debuts at Media Jazz By Night at 10:30pm for one extended concert set til midnite in the Forge Room at the Towne House Restaurant on the corner of Baltimore Pike and Veterans Square in Media, PA.
The Xtet performs straight ahead modern jazz featuring primarily Lewine'scompositions and some from bandmates, as well as the occasional arrangement of a standard by the likes of Ellington, Kern, Monk or Jobim. Alan Lewine on upright bass with Bill Davis (flute, piccolo, bass flute), Wally Smith (keys) and Pio Voluntad (drums).
Media Jazz By Night is a long-running annual festival featuring the best in regional jazz, with 16 acts in 15 indoor venues all within about 3 blocks for a single cover charge of $15 advance, $20 at the event. Media Jazz By Night is a great event and I'm proud to be a part of it.
