Ben Adkins

Music has been a big part of my life since I was very young when I began playing in a family band. Fast forward 20 years and I’m still having a blast learning new things about music every day, and more recently writing original music. I’ve tried to always orient my playing around taste and humility, adding only the minimum necessary to move the music forward. My passion and reputation are centered on the art of subtlety. I completed my Bachelors in Jazz Performance at the University of North Florida under the tutelage of Danny Gottlieb in 2009, and my Masters in Jazz Studies at Florida State University under the tutelage of Leon Anderson in 2011. I was selected to be a member of the Disneyland All-American College band in 2008. I’ve worked regularly and recorded with the Jazz Conceptions Orchestra based out of New York City, the Joshua Bowlus Quartet and Linda Cole, and most recently with the Raisin Cake Orchestra, both based out of Jacksonville, FL
