Massimiliano Rolff Unit Five: More Music
Gli Unit Five capitanati dal contrabbassista Massimiliano Rolff sono attivi dal 2005, e in questo nuovo episodio in studio ripropongono la formula hardboppistica che li ha resi una realtà interessante del panorama jazzistico ligure e non solo.

More Music è composto da otto brani originali firmati da Rolff, il quale ricama spazi e situazioni nelle quali ogni musicista può trovare la giusta dimensione espressiva, in un susseguirsi di temi e soli che ricalcano in maniera fedele il credo stilistico della band. È la chitarra di Massimo Currò il segno distintivo di alcuni tra i brani meglio messi a fuoco, come la sgusciante "Missing," mentre il sax languido e pacato di Stefano Raggi si fa ricordare in "The Lost Dance," ballata d'altri tempi che riconcilia con un ascolto disteso e prossimo nel creare la giusta atmosfera emozionale. La musica degli Unit Five procede senza deragliamenti e fuori programma improvvisi, in un divenire di situazioni che alternano momenti di tensione ad altri di rilascio, come in "Four in a Room," con in evidenza il timbro morbido del trombonista Luca Begonia.

Album suonato con perizia e passione, versato a un credo jazzistico che allaccia in maniera forte i suoi legami espressivi con una tradizione radicata negli anni, che ogni musicista della band porta dentro di sé come un vangelo. Se sia poi giusto o meno continuare a percorrere queste vie già battute in passato rimandiamo l'ascoltatore ad altre tavole rotonde.
