The closing concert of 2018 Moncalieri Jazz Festival on November 25 at the RAI Auditorium in Turin was dedicated to Nelson Mandela, honoring the former South African president and Nobel Peace Prize winner's hundredth birthday. This festival has been running since 2000 in the town of Moncalieri, right outside of Turin, Italy.

This festival featured the premiere of Stefano Fonzi's composition "Madibla," with the RAI National Symphony Orchestra under the composer's direction. Trumpeter Fabrizio Bosso and saxophonist Rosario Giuliani also performed in the premier alongside a house band of pianist Teo Ciavarella, bassist Francesco Bertone, drummer Giampaolo Petrini, and percussionist Bruno Marcozzi. Vocalists included Simphiwe Dana, the Treble Voice Chorus from Mondovì Music School directed by Maurizio Fornero, and the Sunshine Gospel Choir directed by Alex Negro. Sara D'Amario provided spoken word and Mandela's niece Ndileka Mandel gave the closing remarks.
