Jerald Miller has been at the forefront of the Jazz industry for almost 20 years, and for the last
(7) years at the helm of Nu Jazz Entertainment/Nu Jazz Agency. In 2015 he was named by the
118 year old performing arts magazine, Musical America Worldwide as one of the Top 30
Influencers in the Performing Arts world.. In the last (10) years he has become the de-facto Czar
of Jazz digital initiatives through such industry “firsts” as: launching the very first Jazz iTunes
LP; providing bonus video content with every digital release; releasing video albums; and
making all recordings available on pre-paid digital download cards.
Not only has he helped countless organizations to guide the transition of catalog material to
the digital medium, but he has helped to usher in a new age in the revitalization of catalog
content. After working at EMI Records, BMG Records, Columbia Records, Arkadia Records, VIEW
Video, and for Spike Lee,
Jerald Miller went on to help guide the careers of such artists as Lauryn Hill, Mercer Ellington &
The Duke Ellington Orchestra, In 2006, Miller launched Nu Jazz Records, Nu Jazz Video, and Nu
Jazz Management where he works with such artists as NEA Jazz Masters Ellis Marsalis, Jason
Marsalis, Steve Turre, and manages numerous members of the Jazz at Lincoln Center orchestra
while also working as a consultant to art agencies and record labels in developing their digital
assets.
In 2018, he went on to create the largest jazz music competition in the world, named after NEA
Jazz Master Ellis Marsalis. The Ellis Marsalis International Jazz Piano Competition was held in
West Virginia, after more than 160 entries from 13 countries. When all was said and done, thre
winners were awarded more than $200,000 in cash & prizes from among seven finalists.
Several albums were released from the competition subsequently on the Nu Jazz Records label.
