Forget Me

About the Album

Loving You is the stunning new album from engaging Canadian-American vocalist, Peter Campbell. With a voice described by one Canadian industry insider as “liquid gold,” Campbell celebrates the legacy of jazz luminary Shirley Horn. Self-produced and co-arranged with pianist and musical director Mark Kieswetter, Peter’s sophomore Canadian release explores material from Horn’s recorded output over the course of her more than forty-year career. Peter’s love affair with Shirley Horn began while he was an undergraduate at McGill University. Horn’s 1992 recording, “Here’s to Life,” proved revelatory: never before had he experienced a musician able to express so much with such seeming economy. Working with frequent collaborators Mark Kieswetter, guitarist Reg Schwager and bassist Ross MacIntyre, Peter invited trumpeter Kevin Turcotte to join this extraordinary group of instrumentalists and contribute to the recording’s overall sound and structurally jazz framework.
