Antonio Ciacca Quintet: Lagos Blues
Nel realizzare il sesto lavoro da leader Antonio Ciacca ha coronato un sogno: incidere un album con la partecipazione del suo mentore Steve Grossman. E Lagos Blues vede protagonista proprio il musicista americano, capace di dar corpo - con alcuni interventi di rara efficacia - a una scaletta che si risolve in sette brani, scelti tra originali e standard.

Due i passi a firma del saxofonista: il classico "Take the D Train" e la delicata ballad "Nicoletta," scritta qualche anno fa per Nicoletta Manzini. Il resto del programma presenta, tra le altre, una title-track ispirata e fantasiosa firmata da Ciacca, il quale si distingue nell'intero lavoro per il suo tocco cristallino, dosato e sempre al servizio della band: un quartetto composto da interpreti molto partecipi e uniti da interplay millimetrico.

L'album riflette una grande eleganza in ogni minimo movimento, e avanza senza deragliare da un binario espressivo considerevole e formalmente ineccepibile, fino alle conclusive "Body and Soul," suonata con una buona dose di improvvisazione sulle linee originali, e "Reflections in D/In a Sentimental Mood," un omaggio al maestro Duke Ellington. Applausi.
