The wise veteran New York Pianist Kenny Werner starts this week's show with a cut off his latest CD The Space. We then go into a track that was a huge influence on Kenny's perception and approach to jazz with Miles Davis's "In a Silent Way." We also profile the great band Butcher Brown and a wonderful veteran drummer like Chip White with a track off All Star Ensemble Volume 5.

We continue the hour of jazz with another big influence on Chip with "'Round Midnight" from both Miles Davis and John Coltrane off their Final Tour Bootleg Series released in 2018. We then profile a bit of holiday jazz with bassist Ben Basile and multi-instrumentalist Vince Tampio. And finally, we pay our respects to the unique Nancy Wilson teamed up with Cannonball with a bit of the Happy Talk.

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
