Ken Navarro returns with his annual batch of sunny, happy-go-lucky smooth jazz - his eleventh offering on his own Positive Music label. The tunes, all penned by Navarro, all feature catchy, easily accessible, and unfailingly optimistic melodies. Herein lies what is perhaps the disc's primary weakness - it all rides comfortably in the same mid-tempo stylistic groove throughout the entire program. What's more, it bears remarkable similarity to most of the rest of Navarro's catalog as well.
Navarro's regular, long-time band of Jay Rowe and Gary and Greg Grainger perform up to their usual standards. The omnipresent Eric Marienthal guests, too, as he has done on past Navarro albums. (Positive Music PMD77788)

I love jazz because it’s what sounds
I was first exposed to jazz in my
parents household and in school
I appreciate many styles of jazz
and shy away from really outside
stuff. I enjoy relating to the
One of the best shows I ever
attended was 1975 Chick Corea’s
Return To Forever tour at an
intimate venue in downtown
The first jazz record I bought was
Herbie Hancock’s Chameleon.
My advice to new listeners is try
several styles before you decide
what jazz is all about!
Listen to music daily and stay open
