TGB: III
Si chiama TGB il trio portoghese in questione, come tuba, chitarra, batteria ossia gli strumenti utilizzati in questo terzo lavoro, uscito per Clean Feed, come i precedenti Evil Things (2010) e Tuba, Guitarra & Bateria (2004) sempre per l'etichetta di Pedro Costa. Un sodalizio di lunga data che risale dunque al 2004 quando l'inusuale strumentazione, abbinata ad una proposta musicale trasversale ai generi, aveva suscitato notevole interesse e portato a numerosi riconoscimenti.

A quindici anni dalla prima uscita e in tempi in cui anche in campo musicale tutto è stato sdoganato, la proposta del trio conserva ancora un buona dose di freschezza. L'album è abbondantemente infarcito di rock, dal blues rock di "Duelo," al southern rock di "Red Manalishi," dall'hardrock di "Clockwork," al folk-rock di "Sete Portas Mal Fechadas" e il prog-rock di "Starless," quasi nove minuti in cui il celeberrimo pezzo dei King Crimson viene interpretato con grande sensibilità e rispetto.

Il tutto condito con mille sfumature, con giochi di rimandi, con aperture inaspettate che allontanano i brani da connotazioni eccessivamente prevedibili, con momenti di decompressione -"Waits a Moment" possiede l'arcana bellezza di alcuni canti polifonici sardi -, ed esuberanze ritmiche ricche di swing—la jazzy "Geneva's Move." E naturalmente, segreto di Pulcinella, la bravura dei musicisti: la tuba di Sergio Carolino è guizzante, poderosa, camaleontica, la chitarra di Mario Delgado sempre pertinente in ogni contesto, il drumming di Alexandre Frazão mobile e fantasioso.
