Theo Bleckmann: I Dwell in Possibility
Theo ha una missione: raccogliere il Paradiso con le strette mani. Proprio come nella poesia di Emily Dickinson, I Dwell in Possibility (evidentemente questa poetessa statunitense esercita un grande fascino sulla sperimentazione musicale - vedi l'ultimo David Sylvian, ad esempio).

Più che con le mani, però, il cantante vorrebbe stringere e afferrare il Paradiso con la sua voce. Ci riesce anche grazie alle atmosfere celestiali favorite e amplificate dalle perfette condizioni acustiche del monastero di Beinwill (in Svizzera) in cui il disco è stato registrato.

Non ci sono trucchi, espedienti, post produzione: qui tutto è reale. Bleckmann esibisce la sua vocalità e ogni tanto la fa ergere, one-man-band estremo, su suoni suggestivi creati con una bottiglia d'acqua, con un IPhone, una melodica, scatole di giocattoli, vibratone, glass harp e schiccherie varie (la title track).

Il riverbero della sua voce scandaglia dentro la spiritualità senza fondo del silenzio ("Duet for One"); lo rende materia vivida, gli dona vivacità. Spinge oltre i registri della sua espressività vocale come se la stesse immergendo tra gli anfratti e le volte, le statue e gli arredi del monastero alla stessa stregua di un "rumore bianco," quando viene liberato da un ingegnere del suono per ottenerne i necessari feedback ("Static Still").

A tratti ricorda le timbriche dell'ultimo Sting, (nel rifacimento della "Lord Is It Mine" dei Supertramp). Altre volte sembra il suo un gorgoglio vocale africano di richiamo ancestrale (l'eclettica e complicata "Wa-Lie-Oh" di Meredith Monk).

La cover di James Taylor e Don Grolnick ("That Lonesome Road"), Theo la trasforma in un canto depurato dalle inflessioni country. Poi con "So La So Mi" apre i giardini dell'Eden e si spinge oltre ("Ma'at" inaugura un ciclo di tre canzoni tratte da preghiere egiziane e frammenti tratti dall'Euripides di Laurie McCants).

Il jazz e uno dei brani intramontabili vengono rappresentati dalla versione per "rane indonesiane" di "Comes Love".

Un CD che lascia a bocca aperta.
