Un viaggio in treno imminente, la necessità di una buona lettura per non annoiarsi, l'acquisto nella libreria della stazione di "Colazione da Tiffany" di Truman Capote ed ecco servito Golightly. Sì, perché il CD in questione non è altro che il ritratto musicale di Miss Holly Golightly, l'eroina impersonata da Audrey Hepburn che tanto ha ammaliato Annette von Eichel da spingerla a dedicarle un album, convocando una manciata di musicisti di ottimo livello, su tutti il batterista John Hollenbeck.

Equamente suddiviso tra composizioni originali e noti standard (tra cui "Moon River," unica concessione alla colonna sonora del film diretto da Blake Edwards), l'album è costruito attorno alla voce di von Eichel in grado di evocare con disinvoltura atmosfere sofisticate, romantiche, gioiose, melanconiche, frizzanti e seguire idealmente cambiamenti di umore, sogni, aspirazioni, comportamenti della protagonista del romanzo.

Attraverso un parsimonioso uso dello scat, qualche vocalizzo accennato, ma soprattutto una intonazione perfetta in tutti i registri, con le parole rivestite di chiaroscuri o lucenti come diamanti, la cantante di Colonia licenzia un album raffinato in perfetto mainstream- style, complessivamente piacevole, con alcuni interessanti interventi di Florian Ross all'organo a muovere le acque talvolta un po' troppo tranquille.
