Yaron Herman: Everyday
È tutt'altro che noioso, e questo è un bel biglietto da visita per un duo piano/batteria. Non è un omaggio a chicchessia né la solita passerella di standard più o meno noti, a meno che si vogliano considerare tali "Retrograde" di James Blake e "Prelude n° 4, Opus 74" di Alexander Scriabin. E non rivela nessun filo conduttore che accomuni i tredici brani, talmente differenti sono le atmosfere, le sonorità, le forme.

Ma Everyday non è disco sconclusionato, patchwork posticcio di stili e di moods. Si concretizza, invece, in una bella dimostrazione del talento e della musicalità di Yaron Herman, che mette in campo la sua formazione classica, l'amore per il jazz, gli interessi verso la forma canzone, la melodia, la leggerezza del pop, la sperimentazione della musica colta, la sua origine mediorientale, il tutto filtrato da sensibilità, buon gusto e misurato senso del rischio.

Il tocco meraviglioso di Herman non è mai fine a se stesso né esibizionista ma illumina gli angoli oscuri ed esalta ogni minima sfumatura. Il sostegno ritmico di Ziv Ravitz sfugge l'immediata piacevolezza per trasformarsi in sollecitazione continua e fantasiosa. Certo non vi è nulla di sconvolgente né di rivoluzionario nella musica contenuta in Everyday, ma il disco pesca con intelligenza nella tradizione, respira pienamente nella contemporaneità e lascia intravedere qualche interessante sviluppo futuro.
