All About Jazz's longstanding mission has been to empower jazz musicians and independent record labels, to educate readers to turn them into devotees of the music, and to bring musicians, readers, labels and devotees together for the mutual benefit of all. We've developed several services over the years that have rewarded countless musicians in a variety of ways.

Never resting on our laurels, we continue to push forward in our 11th year and remain committed to developing new technologies that better serve all AAJ constitutents.

Some of our existing services that we encourage you to use are summarized below. The below also explains the upcoming MY AAJ system, the regional calendar of events, and the jazz teacher finder—all of which should benefit your efforts to promote your music, your performances, and yourself. After you've read this announcement, please pass this page along to a musician friend.

1. Your Musician Profile

The very first thing you want to do at All About Jazz is create a musician profile at the AAJ Musician Center.

The Pat Martino and Lonnie Plaxico profiles provide excellent examples of how you can maximize the use of this free service. Please check them out.

As you can see from the two examples above, we've integrated the profile with our AAJ articles, the AAJ Visual Arts Center, the AAJ News Center, the AAJ Download Center and the AAJ Video Center. Profile pages index high on Google searches, so it benefits you greatly to include as much information as possible and to keep your profile updated regularly. We also encourage you to link from your own website to your profile page at AAJ.

Recent additions to the musician profile template include a discography, user comments, and a custom Amazon retail box.

To create a profile page, click here.

2. Regional Calendar of Events

All MY AAJ members have access to a regional calendar of events and you can reach them by submitting your gig information. Your events are accessible from a MY user's calendar page and directly from your profile page.

You must have an AAJ musician profile at the Musician Center in order to submit your dates. If you don't have a profile, please submit one now.

3. Be Heard -Post a Download!

AAJ has made a daily download available since October 2005. We're building a steady following and the results have been remarkable. Several tracks have been downloaded over 4000 times and the top 60 on this page have been downloaded over 2000 times. It's great exposure. And it's FREE.

Interested in participating? Please submit your track info here. One track per CD only.

4. Post News Announcements

We'd like to see you post your announcements about new CDs, tour dates, etc., to the AAJ News Center. AAJ news is popular, it's syndicated (via Google News, RSS, our own data feeds, and the AAJ Bulletin Board), the news pages place high on a Google keyword search, and we connect your news items to your AAJ profile.

You also have the opportunity to reach readers locally by entering a zip code. MY AAJ members view local announcements from their MY page and your news will reach them if you enter a zip that is local to them.

To submit a news item, click here.

5. Upload Your Photos to the AAJ Gallery

Establish a visual presence at AAJ by uploading your publicity and concert photos to our photo gallery. These photos are connected to your musician profile and can be used in future AAJ articles (about you).

To upload your images, go to the Photo Gallery and click the "Upload Photos" link.

6. Post Your Upcoming Releases

You can also let AAJ readers know your CD is coming soon by posting your new release information to our Upcoming Release Center.

Sign up for MY AAJ so you can post local announcements and set yourself as a "favorite" so you're notified every time an article about you is published at All About Jazz.

8. Post a Video Clip

AAJ also features daily video clips on our home page and at the Video Center. You can submit your YouTube, Google or streaming video link here. A link to your video will also appear on your profile page (directly below your MP3 download link).

9. Take Five With...

Take Five is a way for you to further raise the awareness of your music and yourself at All About Jazz. It allows you the flexibility to select and answer questions and give readers an opportunity to learn more about you and ask you additional questions. While it's not meant to be a substitute for an interview, it can serve as a means of getting your message out if an interview is not possible at the present time.

Your Take Five questions and answers will be promoted on the AAJ home page and will be posted to your musician profile page as a comment (allowing AAJ readers to post additional commentary or questions).

Submit your Take Five answers.

10. Industry Contacts

Looking for a jazz publicist, venue contact, festival contact, or booking agent/manager? See our comprehensive industry directory here. If you're in the market for a publicist, we can point you to 100+ and tell you which ones are the most accessed at AAJ.

Speaking of publicity, read publicist Jana La Sorte's 6-part series of tips for musicians in search of media coverage.

11. Jazz Teacher Finder

Fill our the teacher information and your city, state and zip information on your Musician Profile and get listed in our Jazz Teacher Finder directory. Students can locate teachers by geographic region, musical instrument and teaching level.

12. Musician Finder

Fill in your geo information (city/state/zip/county) on your musician profile page and allow other musicians to find you for a gig.

13. AAJ Pro Start Page

You can bookmark our AAJ PRO Start Page, which includes convenient links to professional resources at All About Jazz and around the web.

1. AAJ Showcase & Banner

Some of you have advertised at AAJ with great success. We typically recommend the AAJ Showcase service if you're promoting a new CD. It's inexpensive and the single best way to reach jazz enthusiasts on the web. If you're looking for greater exposure, the AAJ Banner service is also an option.

Please explore both to determine the best fit for you.

2. AAJ Live Calendar

Enter your calendar dates in ONE place; post them EVERYWHERE!

With AAJ Live Calendar, just enter your dates at All About Jazz, and let our technology do the work for you. Once your dates are in our system, you can display them as a dynamically updated GIF graphic anywhere you want: on your website, on your MySpace page, on a blog, in a bulletin board signature, in a Yahoo Groups post, in your HTML email announcements, and so on. It's a cost-effective way to syndicate your calendar on the web.

Save 50% by taking advantage of our introductory offer of $30/year.
