01. Lee Konitz - Tenorlee (Steeplechase - 1974).

Una perla di Konitz al tenore col grande Jimmy Rowles, drumless. Lee per me, insieme a Sonny Rollins, rimane uno dei massimi improvvisatori puri espressi dalla storia del jazz.

02. J.R. Montrose - Complete Studio Recordings (Gambit Records 1959-1964).

L'integrale in studio di un grande sottovalutato del tenore.

03. Jim Black Alasnoaxis - Houseplant (Winter&Winter - 2009).

L'ultimo lavoro di questo bel gruppo dove spicca, per me, il tenorsassofonista più interessante e creativo degli ultimi anni, Chris Speed.

04. James Clay - Tenorman - The Kid from Dallas (Fresh Sound Records 1956-57).

Un grande misconosciuto registrato a 20 anni, prima delle frequentazioni west coast con Ornette (con cui registrò "Art Déco" negli '80) e compagnia.

05. Steve Kuhn Trio with Joe Lovano - Mostly Coltrane (ECM - 2009).

Sentitissimo omaggio del grande Kuhn, collaboratore di Trane prima che lo diventasse McCoy Tyner, con un fantastico Joey Baron e il poderoso Joe.

06. Pharoah Sanders - Thembi (Impulse - 1970).

Il mitico Pharoah al top del periodo mistico.

07. John Coltrane - Wilbur Harden - Wells Fargo Sessions (Savoy Jazz Originals - 1999).

Early Trane super ispirato.

08. Charlie Rouse - Red Rodney - Social Call (Muse Records -1980).

Gran tandem con sia Rouse che Rodney in forma stellare. Bellissime composizioni e ultimi bagliori della generazione bop autentica.

09. Lester Young - With the Oscar Peterson Trio (Verve - 1956).

Prez immenso... E la chicca finale del CD è una traccia, con scarti annessi, dove canta!

10- Claudio Monteverdi - Ottavo libro dei Madrigali - Ensemble La Venexiana (Glossa - 2002).

Il prestigioso ensemble italiano, interprete di Monteverdi, con cui oggi (!) entro in studio per registrare il loro nuovo progetto "Round M"...
