Le piccole etichette svizzere continuano a stupirci con proposte coraggiose e mature al tempo stesso, disancorate dal solito stile hard bop.

Il chitarrista Dave Gisler affronta queste otto composizioni, in parte scritte collettivamente, in parte scritte da lui stesso, con il giusto grado di curiosità e con la completa padronanza del linguaggio. Un idioma moderno e disincantato che non sfigurerebbe nei piccoli locali downtown a New York.

L'album è stato registrato a Berlino e ha coinvolto due giovani saxofonisti capaci di colloquiare con eleganza e coolness, mai troppo esuberanti, però allo stesso tempi capaci di appassionare. La ritmica spinge sottilmente in avanti, senza mai smettere di fornire un supporto ben dispiegato.

La chitarra del leader è discreta e poco aggressiva, sempre capace però di ritagliarsi uno spazio ben preciso, con fluide linee di contrappunto a singole note e con accordi mai banali sia dal punto di vista armonico, sia dal punto di vista ritmico. Un piccolo ensemble che funziona alla perfezione, come un vero orologio svizzero.
