Tra le prime uscite dell’etichetta Nu Bop spicca quella che documenta le improvvisazioni del trio formato da Alberto Braida, Lisle Ellis e Fabrizio Spera, nato dopo un incontro avvenuto a Lodi nel 2003 e cementatosi nel tempo attraverso altre esperienze, sviluppate in particolare con Larry Ochs.

Ed è proprio alla perizia progettuale del sassofonista americano che, a tratti, rimandano le dodici tracce di questo CD: nulla, all’ascolto, sembra lasciato al caso; la terra che vibra nei brani - sbriciolandosi in minuti grani di polvere, o, diversamente, aggrumandosi in dense masse di materia - non viene mai dispersa entropicamente.

Non mancano passaggi di brumoso espressionismo (come in “Iya”), o fasi di frammentaria astrazione, sempre e comunque ricondotti a una direzionalità mai ovvia, grazie a quella capacità di empatia e di immaginazione, che vivifica le più significative situazioni improvvisative.

Per la libera espressione sonora si ha qui la dimostrazione che ci sarà futuro, se e fino a quando non verrà meno il desiderio di confronto senza pregiudizi fra musicisti provenienti da estrazioni diverse - ma non divergenti.

E' proprio il caso di Ellis, Braida e Spera, la cui versatilità percussiva - affinata in gruppi come Blast, Ossatura e Lingua - si sposa all'esperienza avant-jazzistica del primo e al pianismo del secondo, non etichettabile né nel "ceciltaylorismo" né nel "monkismo", né in una sommatoria delle due influenze.
