Ivan Vicari: Colpo di coda
Dopo anni di relativa dimenticanza, le sonorità dell'organo Hammond hanno ricevuto negli ultimi tempi rinnovata attenzione pari, grazie a musicisti quali Joey DiFrancesco, Larry Goldings, Gary Versace e Barbara Dennerlein.

Ivan Vicari è di Roma ed il suo disco sulla nuova casa discografica Club Records (label con un catalogo di nu jazz e dance) è una vera e propria sorpresa per gli appassionati dello strumento. È un lavoro prodotto con molta cura, con i musicisti ed i brani giusti che spingono le atmosfere per più di settanta minuti attraverso territori che vanno dal funky al genere afro con acume e capacità di scavare nella materia affrontata. Le folate velocissime di Vicari sono seguite dal sax tagliente del giapponese Genzo Okabe e sostenute dalle percussioni di Karl Potter in un tutto coinvolgente ed entusiasmante, che riesce fin dalle prime battute dell'album - "Saudade" di Walter Booker - ad attirare l'attenzione, lasciando la presa solo dopo il finale "Road Song" di Wes Montgomery. L'uso felice degli strumenti ha un tono estroverso, rotondo, solare, ricco di una carica positiva che dà l'impressione di un album assolutamente godibile, con una danzabilità che serpeggia dentro la musica in modo implicito.

Dal vivo i tre dovrebbero essere capaci di fare terra bruciata sui palchi dei festival: non resta che stanarli e darli in pasto al pubblico!
