Il terzo album da leader del bassista greco prosegue e sviluppa quanto espresso nel precedente Minor Dispute (Cristal Records, 2015): una musica melodicamente suggestiva, che fonde danzanti climi folk su eleganti e flessuosi arrangiamenti per archi. Dal disco d'esordio del 2011 inciso per l'etichetta di Greg Osby (Contextual Inner Circle Music) la formula strumentale viene confermata tanto quanto la presenza del chitarrista israeliano Gilad Hekselman e del batterista/percussionista John Hadfield. Oggi al posto del pianista Jean-Michel Pilc troviamo Shai Maestro e l'ensemble d'archi s'è ampliato da quartetto a ottetto ma la sua musica continua a distendersi tra climi evocativi che talvoltano ricordano il Keith Jarrett di Expectations o il raffinato dinamismo di Pat Metheny.

Una musica che ha il pregio di essere immediatamente accattivante e di facile ascolto ma che nasconde ricchi arrangiamenti e intricate relazioni. I suoi cantabili temi (scritti e arrangiati dal leader) si sviluppano nel contrasto tra leggerezze pop, dinamiche percussioni, seducenti impasti timbrici e ispirati assoli: l'evocativa chitarra di Hekselman, l'incisivo pianismo di Maestro e il pastoso e danzante contrabbasso del leader.

A pochi anni dal debutto a New York, Petros Klampanis si conferma uno dei musicisti più interessanti della sua generazione.
