L'incontro al Birdland di New York fra David Berger e Champian Fulton ha dato luogo ad una collaborazione riuscita, che riconcilia con lo swing ed il suono delle big band. L'azzeccata scelta dei brani e degli arrangiamentti e la perfetta coordinazione della Fultan e dell'orchestra di David Berger ha permesso la riuscita di un album che ci riporta indietro nel tempo, ad un tipo di sound nostalgico che mette di buon'umore.

La Fulton è una cantante vera, una che il jazz lo ha assimilato perfettamente, dalla pronuncia al modo di porgere i versi. I Sultans of Swing sono una formazione che va con degli ingranaggi rodati alla perfezione. La big band è fatta di musicisti versatili, che hanno modo di mettersi in mostra con assoli misurati, mente la Fulton canta con una voce che colpisce subito.

Nell'insieme si tratta di un neo-swing di qualità con i piedi nella tradizione, senza tastiere elettriche ed aperture al mondo della musica pop. Un paio di interpretazioni sono di altissimo livello: "Too Close for Comfort" o "Just One of Those Things" ad esempio. Il loro non è sicuramente un jazz di ricerca, anzi, ma si fanno ascoltare lo stesso anche da chi segue tonalità più contemporanee, grazie ad una carica emotiva ed artistica presente fra i bit di un CD che risulta abbastanza logico in tutte le sue componenti: dalla scelta dei brani all'editing, dalle esecuzioni della brava cantante ai precisi assoli degli accompagnatori.
