Peter Brötzmann - Peeter Uuskyla: Born Broke

Un ritmo regolare, quasi da marcia militare, e il richiamo tribale delle pelli percosse dal legno delle bacchette. E’ l’inizio di Born Broke e proprio in questo gioco di contrasti, di elementi estetici apparentemente inconciliabili risiede il fascino dell’incisione.

Perché poi, su questo tappeto ritmico quasi metronomico, si inseriscono il sax tenore e il clarinetto di Peter Brötzmann, uno che sull’irregolarità, sull’esasperazione dei contrasti, sull’esaltazione degli accidenti, sulle furibonde esplorazioni dinamiche e sulle impossibili ricerche timbriche ha imperniato la propria filosofia musicale.

E la cosa funziona. Perché nonostante Brötzmann non perda un'oncia della sua proverbiale torrenzialità, l’incisione è pervasa da un senso di serenità, di placida conversazione, come se le percussioni di Peeter Uuskyla riuscissero a portare in superficie l’anima più gentile e riflessiva del musicista tedesco.

Laddove Rashied Alì e John Coltrane in Interstellar Space, per citare il più illustre dei precedenti, scatenavano una battaglia al calor bianco tra i rispettivi strumenti raggiungendo un “orgasmo cosmico” mai più eguagliato, in Born Broke Uuskyla e Brötzmann sembrano privilegiare la natura intima del proprio approccio improvvisativo.

Uuskyla e Brötzmann sciorinano un interplay telepatico, cementato da anni di militanza comune e con Born Broke licenziano una testimonianza matura e vitale sullo stato attuale della free music.
