With website traffic on the rise, the question "What is All About Jazz?" is finding its way to my inbox with greater frequency. For long-time readers, the answer is self-evident. For all others, here's the primer...

The Big Picture

Technically innovative and with a global perspective, All About Jazz is a social enterprise (see mission) that combines elements of a magazine, a blog and an encyclopedia—all integrated with a massive database for the sole purpose of raising the awareness of jazz music online.

Sounds good... tell me more!

All About Jazz is an active community comprised of musicians, writers, fans, presenters, students and other industry professionals. It's where folks exchange ideas, get gigs, spread the word... It's also a technical platform that supports the jazz industry; musicians and presenters in particular.

From the past to the present

With a background in technology and interface design, I decided to combine my love of jazz music with my interest in the internet and launched All About Jazz back in 1995. (Click here for the rest of the story) It is now presented by an international staff of volunteers and reaches over 800,000 unique visitors worldwide.
