Dominic Miller: 5th House
Per il suo quinto lavoro solista Dominic Miller sceglie di avvalersi di un autentico dream team, capace di mostrare sia qualità espressive che tecniche di livello assoluto, in dieci brani originali racchiusi in quaranta minuti preziosi e coinvolgenti.

Il titolo 5th House rimanda alla quinta casa astrologica, che solitamente viene definita come la casa del piacere. E in effetti nell'album firmato da Miller il tutto sembra rimandare al concetto di amore e passione, in quanto le melodie sono spesso costruite su atmosfere levigate, dall'animo gentile e prossime a un'idea di bellezza formale che ammalia. Modo che viene messo in evidenza nell'iniziale "Angel" e nella successiva "Embrance," due momenti dove a farla da padrone è un'attitudine soft, leggera nel suo incedere senza nessuna fretta e dai movimenti estremamente delicati. Ma 5th House sa essere anche altro. Come dimostrano le attitudini vagamente bossa che colorano "Waves," la fusion che impregna brani come "Tokyo" e il carattere dai toni più decisi di "Yes". Il tutto in una buona alternanza, anche se al centro del nucleo espressivo restano ferme le atmosfere distese, come si evince in "Catalan" e nella conclusiva "Gate 23,"

Tra i tanti nomi importanti presenti in line up ci sentiamo di sottolineare il lavoro alle tastiere di Mike Lindup e Yaron Herman, equilibrati e mai invadenti, in un album registrato mentre Miller si trovava in tour con Sting nel 2011, quindi senza una grande pianificazione, ma a vantaggio della spontaneità, scaturita dalla voglia di riflettere uno stato d'animo positivo e di grande affiatamento.
