First show of the month and that means September Blue Note 50th anniversary celebrations of sessions by Elvin Jones, Lee Morgan, Wayne Shorter and Candido. In honor of Blue Note's 80th anniversary we go way back in the vault to continue our numerical issue 78 rpm retrospective— this time BN-13 from Sidney Bechet. There's 21st century music from trumpeter Ingrid Jensen, UK pianist Sarah Tandy & bassist Per Mathisen (with wicked guitar work from Ulf Wakenius!). Along the way, a CTI classic from Ron Carter, Michael Brecker & Kenny Garrett. Enjoy the show!
