Trio di Roma: 33
Chissà se Danilo, Enzo e Roberto, tre ragazzi che molti anni fa si riunivano in casa per suonare e divertirsi, pensavano di poter diventare un giorno, rispettivamente: Rea, Pietropaoli e Gatto, ovvero tre pilastri della scena jazzistica nazionale, e non solo.

Chissà se per loro, dopo che ognuno ha percorso tantissima strada in direzioni diverse, era davvero arrivato il momento opportuno per firmare finalmente un disco come Trio di Roma, l'identità sotto la quale, allora come oggi, riuniscono i loro intenti.

E la risposta è decisamente sì, perché 33 (come gli anni del trio, non come dite al dottore quando testa la vostra qualità respiratoria) è un disco che non può lasciare indifferenti, per freschezza d'idee, fantasia e qualità eccelsa degli interpreti.

Le musiche da film (da quelle di Elmer Bernstein e Henry Mancini, senza dimenticare Nino Rota) scelte come comune denominatore, unità d'espressione o semplice scusa per ritrovarsi tra amici: non importa. Quello che conta, per chi ascolta, è che i tre mostrano un'intesa millimetrica che sfocia in una camaleontica capacità di ben figurare sia con l'abito serio ("Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing," "Moon River," "The Shadow of Your Smile"), sia con quello sgargiante ("The Pink Panther"), e di sapersi muovere tra giochi di specchi disorientanti ("The Magnificent Seven") e in situazioni più conformi, inquadrate ("The Great Espape").

Ma dove va rintracciato il senso di questo disco? Probabilmente non nella voglia di far vedere a tutti di cosa è capace il Trio di Roma, questo è risaputo, ma nell'inconscia pulsione di tornare a essere, anche solo per un'ora, Danilo, Enzo e Roberto.
