| | I felt that his last CD Listen was the best of 97. this is not quite that good. But it is still a very good CD.This one has a lot more of his piano playing up front and Ron Blake does a great job on sax. The strong point is his music he is one of the very best writers out there today and I hope he does another record with a bigger group say 7-8 players to give his music more sound. I say this one is a 7. |

| | i read your review and i agree with you that he is one of the hottest- and best writers and arrangers out here. i was listening to betty carter's cd "droppin things" and found marc's timming brillent on the songs "drippin things" and "dull day in chicago"- the interplay/call and response with betty, freddy hubbard and greig handy is dazzeling-and that was in 1990. i can't wait to here his future works. he is a genius. if you have any additional info on marc, please email me. thank you. |

| | What's up Marc. You sounded great at Birdland w/ Jon and Terreon. Marc is one of the most soulful musicians on the scene today. His energy and intensity bring such life to the simplest of melodies. The way he places his notes, and more importantly his space, is incredible. Seeing him with the indigenous people was very inspirational. "Captured Live in Brasil" is a must buy. |
