| | My name is William, I'm Red's grandson. I was born in 82, so I never got to meet the man that I would supposedly get along with so well. My dad (Mike Garland) did'nt stick around either, so I had no way to learn about Red and his career; except for what little my mother knew about him. I just wanted to say I feel very appreciative to your site and posting of his history; it's the only link I have to finding the jazz in my blood. If you can find anything else, please E-Mail me. Thank you very much.

| | Hi, I'm Nita and I'm Red Garland 1st Grandchild. I call him grandaddy and I live in the house with him on 3943 Kynard Street. His only sister Aunt Esterline lives in Dallas and is the only one still alive from the group of my great Aunt(Lallie), Uncle(Daddy Herman), and great grandmother(Annie Mable, which is his mother). I have a great memory of grandaddy even until the end. I remeber the Arandas Club on Oakland Street. I live in Houston now and whenever I go home I just have to drive down Oakland Streeet. My mother Whilmia Garland is his only daughter and just read about my Uncle Michael. AS for his blood my children have a piece of him inside each of them. He was a great man and everyone use to medle me because i can play be hear just like him. I sing at church and remeber when i was a little girl and he would sit me on the piano and let me scan the chords. I miss my grandaddy. He died one month before my son Duckie was born 17 years ago. Some say he went out for duck to come in. He will forever live in my heart. If you want to know more contact me at : 14906 Sheffield Terrace, Channelview, TX 77530 281-457-5240 or work 713-654-0446. my e-mail address lonita.d.weaver@marsh.com.
