I thought the pianist on the "So What" cut was Bill Evans, not Wynton Kelly.

Found one of your books in a used book sale in Romeo Michigan and bought it because of the title/cover - Death of a Tenor. THEN I had to interloan the other 3 cos no one has them! What's up with that?? Hope you're busy writing another. You are so good at that (and I guess at many other things, too!) I am in the midst of recording a CD and I liked Evan's thoughts when he was recording HIS. More!!! More!! Encore!! Thanks!

A few days before yur first crime novel 'Solo Hand' was released in german language. I enjoyed the reading very much. At the end of the book is an essay from you about
jazz in literature. Some of the books I have already read,
like Holmes' 'The Horn' or Baker's 'Young Man With a Horn'.
I have here a german translation of John A. Williams' 'Night Song', which I haven't read yet. What do
you think about it, and do know something about further
transaltions of your other crime novels in german. Is there
anything planned?

Sorry about my english, haven't used it rarely last time.

Wish you well

Martin

 Hi Bill,
My research partner Gary Westbrook and I have adapted computer software to identify unidentified mystery jazz recordings similar to the recording you attempt to identify in "Sound of the Trumpet." Last Sunday we were interviewed about it on National Public Radio's All Things Considered. If you are interested you can download the program on the Wekkend All Things Considered website. Afterwards I would be glad to discuss any part of the research with you.
Best,

 Dear Bill Moody,

Thanks for 'Bird Lives!', which I really enjoyed, as I have all your Evan Horne books. I liked your response to "smooth jazz" in 'Bird Lives!', which leads to my question. Can you point me in the direction (maybe through references to some of your jazz writing) to performers who are developing jazz today?

Having lived in the sticks all my life (Buffalo, Chapel Hill, Calgary), I don't get to hear much live jazz. The classics on CD are wonderful, but I also want to listen to and support the people who are keeping jazz fresh and alive through their playing today.

P.S. You may know my philosophy colleague Joel Rudinow at Sonoma State.

 Hello Bill Moody,
up to now there was no chance (neither in Berlin or London or via internet) to get "Death of a Tenor Man" and "Solo for Trumpet". As I liked "Solo Hand" and "Bird Lives" very much you maybe can tell me how and where I could order the other two.
