| | The early avant garde players like Ramsey Ameen -Leroy Jenkins- Billy Bang were and are still trying to extract unfamiliar sounds from the violin -unfortunately there is a very limited audience - hence their work finds it's way to the delete bins. A couple of his early records were 'SOLO VIOLIN' Hat Hut IR04 and 'CHANGING SEASONS' Bellows 004. But I agree "Variety is the spice of life" |

| | I saw Bang with Frank Lowe in Athens,GA right before Thanksgiving and liked ,not loved, the show.It seemed like a thrown together sort of affair. They ran hot and cold all night but seeing these two cats on an off night was still worth it. |

| | I just produced with Billy a long-planned project that came about after various conversations about his experiences in Vietnam. It's still untitled, but I hope to release it in September (2001). It features fellow vets Butch Morris, Michael Carvin, Ted Daniels, Ron Brown and Frank Lowe, as well as John Hicks (with whom Billy had never recorded), and Curtis Lundy. All the compositions are his own, and are deeply felt and well-constructed - from the heart. I look forward to preparing it for release. Jean-Pierre Leduc |
