Which three Louis Armstrong discs would you take to a deserted island?

I think that I would have to bring Louis Armstrong Meets
Oscar Peterson, Louis Armstrong and Earl Hines and maybe
Volume One of the Louis and Ella albums. I know that all of
his most influential stuff was the Hot fives and sevens, but
I would love to have heard him cover more Cole Porter. The
music with O.P. and Ella is sophisticated and swings like
mad. His vocals are a nice counter point to the world
weariness of a lot of the lyrics, and I think that his
version of "I Was Doing Alright" is def

Hot Fives and Sevens, Vols 1, 2 and 3. I have been living with these records for 45 years as if I had only them on a desert island, anyway, almost.

I'd bring the 1957 Newport disc, "Mack the Knife." It's one of my favorite live recordings of Pops. I think I'd also bring the "...Meets Oscar Peterson" disc, too - great renditions of so many standards. If I could cheat, I'd bring the 6CD Mosaic boxed set of the Complete Studio Recordings of LA and the All Stars as my third choice. If not, I'd bring either "Pops - The 1940s Small Band Sides" or "Satch Plays Fats."

Hot Five & Hot Sevens, The Great Summit, & Louis & Ella
Hot fives & sevens for the beautiful magnificent playing. The Great Summit with Louis & Duke which I found fascinating and poignant and beautiful it includes the sides and the practices with both Duke and Pops talking to each other about this sound or that, a great piece of ear candy.

Louis and Ella ... well it just is Louis & Ella!!!

 hey Louis Armstrong fans,
Did you know that 3 of Louis' most classic albums have been
reissued and remastered on vinyl. The way it was meant to be
heard. Totally clean and beautiful. The reissues include the classics
such as:"LouisUnder the Stars", "I've Got the World on A String",
"Satchmo plays King Oliver" . I highly recommend looking into this

Louis Armstrong Plays W. C. Handy - hard to decide on the digitally remastered Columbia Jazz Masterpiece Louis Armstrong Plays W.C. Handy (yes, the CD which people say was butchered by Columbia)i 1986, or Columbia's remake in 1997 with the bonus tracks. And then probably Louis plays fats, and Louis and Ella.

Louis Armstrong - Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, 1923-1934 is about all you need. Compilation and notes by Dan Morgenstern in a 4 CD set. I also wouldn't leave behind Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington The Great Summit/Complete Sessions/Deluxe Edition which contains the outtakes. Oh you dog!
