Born in Liege in Belgium on March 21, 1962, he begins his musical studies at 7 at the Royal Conservatory of Liège. In 1976, he obtains a first prize of music theory. In 1978-79, a first prize of violin. He continues by the superior diploma and obtains a first prize of chamber music in 1981. From 1981 till 1983, he follows the private classes of IVRY GITLIS.

He joins the world and the street music in Brussels, Paris and in the South of France. He meets CHORDA TRIO, finds through them the love and the atmosphere of Django and Grappelli's jazz and his recollections of childhood when he played with his brother, the guitarist Stéphane Martini, from the age of 9.
