Background: A native of Minneapolis, MN, I studied extensively and taught with Herbert J. Wigley for over 30 years. Herb Wigley and I were some of the first to teach jazz improvisation for the University of Minnesota at Mac Phail Center. I was fortunate enough to have been coached on organ with the great jazz organist Jimmy Smith back in the 70's. I have been a professional musician and teacher since 1964. I have been the accompanist at my church for the past 30+ years, a composer, a recording artist with 4 CDs and play professionally in the Twin Cities area.
