Frank Botos

Born:

Born into a musical family, Frank became a first call drummer in Hungary at an early age. He worked and recorded with Hungary’s most well known musicians including Szakcsi, Tony Lakatos, Robert Lakatos, Gabor Gado. Frank studied at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music with Gyula Kovacs and Ivan Nesztor. After leaving the school in 1991, Frank won first place in the “Krakow International Jazz Competition” in Poland. He has played on the main stages of European jazz festivals. In 1998 Frank Botos immigrated to Canada. Shortly after arriving in Canada with his brother Robi Botos, (winner of the “Montreux Jazz Festival Solo Piano Competition 2005″), Frank and Robi became well established in the Toronto jazz scene as “The Botos Brothers”

Thomas Palance

Thomas Palance is known for his versatility as a trumpet player and innovative teacher. Tom started The Orchestra On The Hill in 2007 with five members. Since then, the orchestra has grown to a full professional ensemble delighting audiences with unique concerts. Tom retired from the US Navy Band in Washington DC after 20 years of service where he was the named "The most versatile trumpet player in the US Navy."

At the band Tom held positions of assistant principal trumpet and soloist with the concert band, and soloist with The Commodores Jazz Band. In 2005 Tom relocated to Ipswich, MA with his family where he is a freelance trumpet player, composer, conductor and teacher. Tom has served on the faculty at The Boston Conservatory, The University of New Hampshire and Salem State University and is now a professor at The Berklee College of Music.

Steve H. Williams

Composer, arranger and saxophonist Steve Williams has enjoyed a thirty-five year career performing many styles of music. He has appeared on numerous albums including the Latin Grammy winning (2008) "Caribbean Jazz Project/Afro Bop Alliance Big Band featuring Dave Samuels." Steve's big band album, "Steve Williams and Jazz Nation" is available on OA2 Records and features Steve's exciting arrangements and compositions. In 1997 Steve joined the United Stated Navy Band Commodores and has served as the band's lead alto player and musical director and has contributed over 50 compositions and arrangements

Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Katia grew up in a musical family. Her mother, Janis Kelly, is an accomplished vocalist, who sang with Maurice White and the Emotions, and opened for Rufus & Chaka Khan, Tower of Power and Carole King. Her father, Mark Cardenas, is a professional keyboardist, and a Platinum and Gold recording artist, whose credits include Prince, Morris Day and the Time, Janet Jackson, and The Song Catchers (featuring Charles Neville). From an early age, she was raised on a strict diet of funk, soul, and r&b. She received a Waldorf education, which taught her a deep appreciation for the arts, and a passion for singing
