Zock Organ Trio

The Zock Organ Trio is a jazz trio formed in 2012 with its mission being to wave the flag of jazz using modern music as the vehicle.  In addition to contemporary music they also play choice standards and other jazz classics.  They have played such Chicago clubs as The Underground Wonderbar and the Abbey Pub.  They released their first album, ‘Mission Statement’ in 2020.

Intoxicated by the music of John Coltrane, James Brown, and Miles Davis, Eric Zolan strives to express his passion for the music of his predecessors while embarking on the tireless journey of finding his own voice. Using standards as well as his own compositions as platforms for improvisation, Zolan delivers melodic sermons that evoke joy and lift the spirits of his listeners.

Zolan grew up in Fairfield, CT and got his start playing local gigs with bassist Steve Clarke. He graduated from William Paterson University (‘16) where he had the privilege of studying with jazz luminaries such as Mulgew Miller, Harold Mabern, Bill Charlap, Gene Bertoncini, Christian McBride and Steve La Spina

MUSIC SOUP is a mainstay on the Greek jazz scene where they perform in all types of venues, from festivals and concert halls to jazz clubs, bars, and cafes. Evgenia and Nestor first met in 1998 when Nestor hired Evgenia to sing for a performance with his band. They continued playing together on and off for many years before they decided to form MUSIC SOUP in 2006. According to Evgenia, “We came up with our group name because we wanted to play different jazz-oriented styles in different group settings. We wanted a name that was a bit light-hearted, because we’re serious about our music but we prefer to not take ourselves very seriously.” CUT TO THE CHASE celebrates the group’s 10-year anniversary

Lee Barbour is a musician from Charleston, SC. As a guitarist, he has performed/recorded with several international artists, including guitar legend Joe Beck (Miles Davis), Fred Wesley (James Brown), Earl Klugh, Chris Bullock and Justin Stanton (Snarky Puppy), Cody Wright (Joe Bonamassa, Peter Erskine), John Blackwell (Prince, D’Angelo) Quentin Baxter (Ranky Tanky, Rene Marie) Jeff Sipe, Kebbi Williams (Tedeschi Trucks Band), Elise Testone (American Idol), Ellis Hall, and Cary Ann Hearst (Shovels and Rope). He has been reviewed in Jazz Times and had appearances in Spin Magazine and the New York Times.

As a composer, he has written music for trailers, documentaries, animation, commercials and feature film

Dr. Andrew Nevala

Director of Jazz Studies at Jacksonville State University, Dr. Andy Nevala currently directs the Downbeat Award Winning Jazz Ensemble I (2015, 2023), Jazz Ensemble IV, Combo I, Combo II, the Latin Ensemble, oversees the Jazz Combo program, produces the annual Jazz Festival (in it's 13th year), and teaches Jazz piano lessons. As Director of Jazz Studies, he has overseen the JSU Jazz program more than double in size during his time at JSU, with performances in the community, at regional and international festivals, and Middle and High Schools in the Southeast region. Andy has been recognized by Downbeat magazine on 10 different occasions, winning individual Downbeat Music Awards for composition (2002), arranging (2003), and performing/directing (2000, 2001, 2002, 2015, 2023)

Jason Quick is an innovative guitarist, composer, and bandleader in contemporary music with a rust belt edge. Quick immerses himself in music and process to create projects that navigate genres and styles. Jason regularly performs at venues, clubs, concert series, and festivals throughout the Midwest and has played/recorded in New Orleans. Jason’s two main projects are Quick Trio and Quickness. Both groups feature Quick’s original compositions and tunes.
