Dennis Rea's adventurous guitar playing blends modern jazz, creative rock, experimental music, and world musical traditions into an approach that is uniquely his own, marked by haunting lyricism, enigmatic textures, agile improvisation, and the raw dynamism of rock. Over the years Dennis has led or been a key contributor to such innovative groups as Moraine, LAND, Iron Kim Style, Zhongyu, Stackpole, Savant, Earthstar, Identity Crisis, and Ting Bu Dong. Leonardo Pavkovic: Nothing is Ordinary

Read "Leonardo Pavkovic: Nothing is Ordinary" reviewed by Chris M. Slawecki

More than any other person, Leonardo Pavkovic has made me write some crazy shit. Pavkovic is the primal force behind the joyously eclectic MoonJune Records, which he established in 2001. “Established" may not be the right word: “I am truly an unusual and rules breaking call-it-record-company with a 'label' identity despite the fact that ...

Moraine: Metamorphic Rock (Live at NEARfest)

Read "Metamorphic Rock (Live at NEARfest)" reviewed by AAJ Italy Staff

In questo caso lo scenario prevalente è quello del rock progressivo che curiosamente li porta più dalle parti di gruppi un po' dimenticati come gli East of Eden che non nel ...

MoonJune Records: A Decade of Progressive Rock Documentation

Read "MoonJune Records: A Decade of Progressive Rock Documentation" reviewed by Mark Redlefsen

On a moon of this past June, appropriately enough, Leonardo Pavkovic, owner of the progressive jazz label MoonJune Records, gave All About Jazz an interview at the label's office in Union Square, New York City. The name MoonJune Records, which Pavkovic started back in 2001, is taken from the title of a song, “Moon In June," ...

Moraine: Manifest Density

Read "Manifest Density" reviewed by AAJ Italy Staff
