Hi, I am John Koh, and I am 15. I started to play the bass half way through my 7th grade. What inspired me to play the bass, especially jazz bass, was from my dad's god father, El Dee Young. Currently, my dad, who is a Jazz pianist, and I have formed a trio, including our friend who plays the drums. The trio has not started to play at gigs yet, because of my dad's business trips that have suddenly become very frequent for this past month, but I would hope to play in bars regularly once he has settled down in his job. At the moment, we live in Shanghai, China, due to my dad's job. There are many jazz scenes around this city, especially with the JZ festival this year, when Ron Carter came to perform, and at the same concert, I met Chris Potter!
