Musician

Jim Malloy

I like to think of myself as a new, although not a young voice. Growing up in what was then called "Sugar Hill", in New York City, the strains of Big Band Jazz (my parent’s music), Be-Bop, Blues and Mambo could be heard everywhere. I sang, listened to and enjoyed the sounds of my generation, Rhythm and Blues, Soul, Latin and Doo Wop music: the sounds of Dizzy, Eckstein, Sinatra, Prysock, Noro Morales, Louis Armstrong, Louis Jordan as well as the music of my mother's gospel choir filled our apartment. During my teens and as a young man in the Air Force, I sang with a number of vocal groups. After leaving the military, I tried singing and song-writing, but to earn a living, I drifted into Graphic Arts
