Jauron Perry

Jauron Perry is an upcoming Detroit trumpeter, composer, bandleader, and educator in jazz studies at Michigan State University. Recognized with the Next Generation of Talent award, Jauron has gained extensive experience working with Detroit jazz masters like Rodney Whitaker, Regina Carter, Wendell Harrison, as well as sensations such as Jazzmeia Horn, Marquis Hill, and Wynton Marsalis, and performing as a current Geri Allen Gathering Orchestra Fellow. He has been featured in prominent events such as the Detroit Jazz Festival and Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Jack Rudin Jazz Championship. Jauron recently won the 2024 Michigan Jazz Festival Rising Horn Competition, and also toured Japan at just 19 years old

Marta Karassawa

Marta Karassawa is a Brazilian pianist whose musical journey has been marked by an intense passion for music and a career defined by overcoming challenges. She was born in Niterói - RJ and grew up as the oldest daughter in a family of engineers and architects where music always held a special place, even if it was not a career pursued by her family members.
Early on, Marta showed a liking for the piano and began taking lessons at the age of 7, initially only as a hobby. However, her love for music deepened over time, and although se studied Architecture and Urban Planning in Brazil, her passion for music drove Marta to change her career course. Determined to pursue her passion, Marta began her transformative path to the prestigious Berklee College of Music where she received a scholarship. This experience gave her the unique opportunity to learn from jazz legends such as Danilo Perez, Horace Silver and Pat Metheny, and attend inspired workshops. Her dedication resulted in graduating with honors with a diploma in Performance and Arranging.

Andreas Hertel

Born:
Andreas Hertel is a German jazz pianist, composer, bandleader, and piano teacher. Since the early 90ies he has been active on the German jazz scene.
He published 10 CDs with mainly original compositions in solo, trio, and quintet settings and wrote about 200 jazz tunes, some big band arrangements, and theatre music. Two of his CDs received longlist nominations for a German Record Critic's Award ("Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik"): "Blue Bop" (Trio, 2022) and "Keepin' the Spirit" (2015), feat. guest stars Dusko Goykovich (tp/flh), Tony Lakatos (sax), "Lady Bass" Lindy Huppertsberg (b), Jens Biehl (dr).
His Christmas song "It might be Christmas Every Day" won a "Global Music Award" (Silver Medal) in March 2024.

Shems Bendali

Shems was born in 1996 and grew up in the small city of Thonon-Les-Bains (France). He studied first with French trumpet player Jeff Baud and then went to study at Lausanne Jazz music faculty (Switzerland). There he studied with Matthieu Michel, Emil Spanyi, Robert Bonisolo, René Mosele and Banz Oester. Within the first year of studying there, he quickly made his way through the Jazz and Hip Hop scene and was playing in every major jazz venue in the country. With his band and his many prolific artistic collaborations, Shems has been playing regularly in many countries such as Switzerland, France, Italy, Germany, England, Ukraine, Austria, Spain, Belgium, Turkey, and Egypt for the past few years. He has performed on stage and/or recorded in studios with Bastian Baker, Kadebostany, Charlie Winston, Fianso, Rilès, Danitsa, Lea Lu, Issam Krimi, François Jeanneau, Matthieu Michel, Pierre Drevet, Banz Oester, Emil Spanyi, Jean-Lou Treboux, Chistophe Moniot, Nils Wogram, Nik Bartch, Emmanuel Bex and many more.

Dave Coules

Dave Coules is a resident of Oakville Ontario and has been on the Toronto music scene full time since 2012. He is a retired educator with over 30 years of experience in the profession during which time he led award-winning high school big bands and jazz ensembles. Dave’s musical resume comprises work with a number of Toronto area ensembles including Swing Shift Big Band, the George Lake Big Band and the Bob Clegg Big Band. He has also been a guest artist with the Bob Cary Orchestra, the Chris Hunt Tentet, the Anthony Terpstra Septet and the OctoKats. As well as playing lead alto sax for the Advocats Big Band, Dave is an accomplished soloist, featured regularly in their performances
