Uptown Jazz Orchestra’s mission is to promote the rich cultural legacy of American music through both entertaining and educational performances. Our educational shows are designed to give young people a greater awareness of important historical figures and musical traditions. All other shows are designed specifically with the intent of folks having a good time … hands clapping, toes tapping and rump shaking!

In 2007, NEA Jazz Master and Grammy Award winning trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis formed the Uptown Jazz Orchestra (UJO) for the purpose of keeping important jazz music traditions alive; such as riff-playing, spontaneous group improvisations, and collective New Orleans instrumental polyphony. At the time, Marsalis realized that the New Orleans music community was lacking the infusion of young homegrown talent outside of the great brass band tradition, and chose to form an orchestra that could present traditional, classic, and modern compositions with authenticity. Since that time, UJO has grown into one of the premier large ensembles in the world, releasing four CDs to critical acclaim, and touring locally, nationally, and internationally.

The Jazz Kings

Nicole Parker Brown and The Jazz Kings are an eclectic band that produces a blend of beautiful Jazz, Blues and Latin music that enlivens audiences. These inspiring artists all have an exceptional background in music production as performers and entertainers that create tunes that come straight from the heart. They are masters of improvisation and individually have provided a vast contribution to the music industry.

Biography     

The Jazz Kings have come to be recognized as one of the most sought-after jazz bands on the Gold Coast and beyond. They released their first CD ‘Out of Nowhere’ in December 2020, and this musical masterpiece has had airplay on both local, interstate and international radio stations. Formed in 2017, each member of this prolific band has decades of professional experience in all aspects of the music industry as performers, entertainers, recording artists, teachers, backing/support to local, national, and major stars, floorshows, and also in television, radio and media. Their second album, Blue Jazz, is due to be released January 2024 and already has had extensive interest from radio stations. This album will be a unique fusion of blues and jazz arrangements, combining popular standards with some outstanding originals.

Dulce Resillas

Born: January 17, 1986

Mexican pianist graduated from the Higher School of Music (INBA) who has performed in various National and International Jazz Festivals (Philippines, Bolivia). She in international independent performances as well as classical music festivals (Montrèal, France and Italy). She has collaborated with the Panamerican Big Band Jazz, with the JazzFest AC Foundation Ensemble and various independent projects. She has 2 jazz record productions titled "Hilando Lunas" (2010) and "Leitmotiv" (2015) by Resijazz where she composed pieces made for Big Band, quintet, sextet and trio. She is the creator of Jazz en Movimiento in Querétaro (JEM) where she currently resides, that she is dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of this genre. She is currently developing her career as a composer, pianist and arranger.
